Buttermilk Dill Salad Dressing

This light yet creamy dressing is perfect for the tender, young lettuces of spring and early summer.It may remind you of “ranch dressing,” but it is ever so much fresher and brighter than any bottled dressing. Delicious with cucumbers too!



  • 1/2 cup buttermilk
  • 1/3 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 Tablespoons chopped fresh dill
  • 2 Tablespoons chopped fresh chives
  • 1 teaspoon fine sea salt
  • 1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder (optional)



Whisk together the buttermilk and mayonnaise to thoroughly combine. Stir in the dill, chives, and salt. Add the garlic powder to taste, if you like. Cover and chill at least 30 minutes and up to 1 week before using.
