About Farmer Dave’s: 

Farmer Dave’s is a 90-acre diversified fruit and vegetable farm based in Dracut, Massachusetts. Our mission is growing healthy food, building a strong community, and creating lifelong traditions. We focus on providing a healthy product for our guests, our workers, the soil, and our global environment. Our home farm and farm stand are located in Dracut, MA, which is open year-round. The East Street farm stand in Tewksbury, MA and Hill Orchard farm stand in Westford, MA are our two satellite farms. Farmer Dave’s participates in a dozen farmers’ markets, sustains a large year-round membership in our vegetable and fruit CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) program, and offers PYO (Pick Your Own) experiences, including strawberries, peaches, blueberries, carrots, potatoes, flowers, and apples. Our commercial farm kitchen creates baked goods and ready-to-eat meals primarily from our own fruits and vegetables, strengthening our food system circle. The kitchen is located at our home farm in Dracut MA, and produces goods for our three farm stands, a large year-round CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) and up to a dozen farmers’ markets seasonally.

Job Description:

Commercial kitchen experience is preferred. This is a year-round position with hours typically decreasing slightly in the winter, but we are willing to discuss other opportunities with the right candidate.  We are looking for someone who is confident in their ability, is able to adapt based on the needs of the business and can follow prep lists and tasks.  The ideal candidate will possess the drive and creativity to craft and workshop new items within the current product lines. Our bakery and kitchen lines are constantly growing and changing, so growth opportunities are available!

Main duties:

  • Prepping fruits and vegetables for the day, including but not limited to peeling, washing, and cutting produce for soups and prepared meals
  • Preparing large batch soups, sauces, stocks, prepared foods etc. using a Rational iVario tilt skillet
  • Preparing daily small batch items, such as macaroni and cheese, quiche, vegetable and starch sides, and proteins
  • Measuring quantities of ingredients and seasonings and following pre-existing large-batch and small-batch recipes
  • Inventorying existing products and working as a team to create daily production lists
  • Maintaining a clean and safe workspace

Position Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic individual to join our team as a Year-Round Farm Stand Team Member. This position plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our farmstand throughout all seasons, providing exceptional customer service, promoting our farm’s products, and upholding daily standard operating practices.

Key Responsibilities:
Customer Service:
Greet guests warmly and assist them in selecting products.
Handle guest inquiries, concerns, and feedback in a professional manner.

Sales and Transactions:
Process sales transactions accurately using a Square point-of-sale (POS) system.
Maintain knowledge of current pricing, discounts, and promotions.
Handle cash, credit card, and electronic payments securely.

Product Display and Stock Management:
Ensure farmstand shelves and displays are stocked, organized, clean and attractively presented.
Rotate and grade products to maintain freshness and minimize waste.
Monitor inventory levels and communicate stock needs to farm management.

Farmstand Maintenance:
Keep the farmstand area clean, tidy, and inviting.
Ensure signage and promotional materials are current and visually appealing.
Perform routine maintenance tasks such as sweeping, sanitizing, and restocking supplies.

Team Collaboration:
Assist in packaging and preparing products for sale as needed.  Support farm events and activities, including seasonal happenings and experiences.

Qualifications:
Previous experience in retail, customer service, or a related field preferred.
Knowledge of agricultural products, seasonal produce, and local food systems is a plus.
Strong communication skills with the ability to interact positively with guests and team members.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, and evenings as required by seasonal demands.

Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
Comfortable standing, walking, bending, and reaching throughout shifts.
Willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions as required by seasonal demands.
